We will be in by Christmas Eve if the weather allows that is!! Hope to see you all give me a call if you want to get together. We will be at mom and dads house so you can reach us there if you don't have my cell. We are not sure how we will react to the change from the 70s for the last week to this near 0 stuff you Kansans live it. That is just crazy!!!

Story time

Okay so craziness has arrived!! On top of a crazy busy week of running back and forth to Mississippi this week for work, I was in a car accident. So here is the story............

I had just gotten back in town from Mississippi and I was heading to pick Bailey up from daycare. I was driving down Cottage Hill Ave. which is a 5 lane road. As I approached an intersection in the right lane, my lane was clear and the left lane was backed up. Unknown to me someone was in the middle turn lane facing the opposite way waiting to turn into CVS on my side of the road. So the wonderful woman in a big SUV waved the man through to turn. WITHOUT realizing I was coming up in the lane next to her I guess!! So he can't see over the SUV so he turns, and guns it! Yeah not smart. I see him come out in my lane but too late, I slam on the breaks and we hit. Not fun. I was doing about 30 and he had gunned. Both of my air bags went off and my front was pretty messed up. His car managed to spin onto the curb and into the parking lot.

So I sat there in shock for a bit. My car never left the road. I have a burn on my wrist and hand, from the air bag. Did you know air bags smoke a lot when they go off? Yeah they do and it was odd. Other than the burn it was the normal soreness and back/neck ache. Still waiting on that to go away. So after the fun of dealing with the insurance company, my car is totaled. Grrrr, I was actually paying it off this week too. So much for that! So the pittiful check that the insurace company is giving me for my car today won't get me much. And I was trying to not have a car payment next year.

So what car do I buy?? Any ideas?? Marry Chirstmas to me I get a new vechicle, grr so much for splurging this year at Christmas.

But hey everyone is okay, no kids were involoved, I have some money set aside to help, and I am not in school anymore so I have a real job and income. God sure does take care of us.

Any ideas on what I should buy??? I need something cheap and quick!! I don't handle being a single mom with no car very well!!

So I forgot about yesterdays pictures. So I am double blogging backwards in time, how about that! :) I took Bailey to crash her School party. (she doesn't go to school of Fridays, but that is when the party was so we crashed it and I skipped work! ) They gorged themselves on sweets, then ran around like crazy kids. All the boys were super heros, batman, superman or spiderman. The girls were a bit more creative! Bailey had fun!

Forgive the poor quality photos today. They are off of my cell phone again. We decided to run around the park today for about 4 hours. So we wondered over to the art museum to check out the new art outside. Here are a few of Bailey's favs.

Check us out we are doing things! Really you should be proud. Work is going well, it is great to have Jeremy down here! Bailey is attempting to stop bitting her nails, it is slowly getting better. And the thumb sucking at night is going away, hopefully it will all end soon! So as for the events of late. Bailey had a fall festival at her school last Friday night. She loved it! We also spent part of Saturday carving our pumpkin family! Check it out we are too cool! Hope all is well up north!

Are ya scared yet? She loved the bounce house, especially when she had it all to herself. I will try to add a video later of her bouncing.

Well we have had a busy day. It feels great to sit down and rest. We spent almost 4 hours at the fair today. I was a great day, perfect temp and Bailey had fun. Here are a few pics of the Fair.

We did something fun! Yes really we did, okay well maybe fun by kid standards. The Circus was in town and we actually went. Aren't you all proud of me! This was Bailey's first time at the circus and she loved it. But she thought she need to do and buy everything!!!! ya momma didn't go for that! So here are some pics.....

I am really not good at keeping up with this blog. Hope my readers haven't dwindled from 2 to 1 already! :) So for the faithful lets see what has been going on in September. huh well it looks pretty much like August did, I work and B goes to pre-K and we hang out. We are good at that. So as for pictures, well ya see even though my camera gets carried around with me in my purse it rarely comes out anymore. I know I know what a bad mom. So I do have a couple for you though. Granted these are all off my cell phone so please forgive the poor quality.

She's treed. I have told you she loves climbing trees. Well she does.

Hum what happened in August. Well lets see I started a new job, yup I am in the working world and let me tell ya, I am not a fan of 8-5!!! But that aside work is good, still kinda new to it all but making progress. Bailey has handled it all well, I still get a "mom you were gone too long" every once and awhile when I pick her up. Other than work, August was pretty uneventful. Let me see if I can scrounge up some pictures.

So of course I left you with the cliff hanger of if my family and I survived a week in a 2 bedroom apartment together! And I am sure the lack of posting has caused some concern right? right? Okay for my 2 readers out there it went rather well. It was great to see everyone! And it was sis and the kids first time at the beach! So here are some highlights!

And of course what is a trip to the beach without sand animals, our dolphin with babies and our turtle. We had a good time, minus the jelly fish. But we did get to see dolphins swimming out in the Gulf.

We also took an airboat ride through Mobile Delta. It was fun and there were lots of Alligators to see.

Did you know? Did you??

So this month as been awesome!! I have finished my masters degree, I have accepted a job offer which is to start in August, I had a birthday and I have 2 weeks of vacation (unpaid of course) also my family will be down on Sunday. And by family I mean mom, dad, sis, bro, and 4 of the 5 kids!! Yes that is a lot of people to road trip down here but it will be awesome!

So here are some pics from my birthday. We started the day with a little dress up, her not me! And for dinner we meet up with a couple of adopted family members at a very good restaurant! It was yummy!

I am so lost! Where is this summer going? Was there a month of June this year? It must have slipped by just like May! Well here is to another month in the world of finishing up graduate school. Really I did not neglect my child I just did no keep track of the camera!

So what did we do in June? ummmmm really I have no idea but I did turn in my thesis at the end of June! That has to count for something! So here are the couple of pics I did take.

Pneumonia girl

Hey all, Thanks for the prayers and well wishes for Bailey. She was out of commission for a little over a week. Doctor said it was bacterial pneumonia. It didn't take her too long to kick it though, with lots of drugs and rest she is back to normal! She even made it to her first day of daycare/preschool today. She did fabulous! She was very nervous last night, she has been staying with Ashley while I work for a year now. But this morning she was ready to go and excited once she got there. I can't wait to hear the stories she tells when I pick her up tonight. Here are a few of our stir crazy photos of pneumonia week. And of her leaving for 'school' this morning!

I was just reminded that I still have a blog out here in the internet world so I decided to see how far behind I have fallen. Well mid-November is pretty bad so I will try to catch up a bit!

So since Bailey and I can't enjoy a good old Kansas Country Thanksgiving we settle for an Alabama Country Thanksgiving. So once again we headed up north to the hunting camp and spent the day with the Tingles and family. Little did we know this year we had to pick pecans in order to eat! So here we are being slave labor, followed by a good old lazy time of watching a kiddy movie with Bailey!

Yes I admit it I am becoming accustom to the warm weather and dang it, it is cold at 60 degrees!!!

Just a couple of Bailey brags to share with anyone who still reads this:

She was sick this past weekend, but Sunday afternoon she announced "Jesus healed me" And ya know what, He did! Here fever was finally gone after 5 days and she finally ate!!!

And Second,

In her prayers the other night this was a new addition "Thank you daddy's mustache is gone" Hehehehe I couldn't help but laugh. And no I did not prompt any of these quotes. It was hilarious!

And we wonder why she is chicken, humm she still freaks out and won't float!!! Don't worry there are hands in the upper right hand corner reaching out to grab her, no need to call CPS.

And yeah we have finally gotten a couple of cool nights. While that is great for us it has cooled the pool down a bit, don't know that I will be getting in it anytime soon. I am such a weenie now! But I am sure Bailey will still be trying to get in it till her lips turn blue, I just wish she would learn to swim!!

Pros vs Cons

So I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of flying home in December vs. driving home. Christmas is a little over 3 months away and I have started looking into plane tickets. You know me I have to start planning now! I do not know exactly when I will be able to get back. I have a conference trip in San Diego the 8th-12th so I know it will be after that! Also unsure about the length of time I will be home. It depends on how my research is going and how my thesis writing is going. Deadline of March 27th!!! Okay back to the issue at hand.

A flight for Christmas will run about $300 a piece so we are looking at a $600 trip home. Yikes.
If I drive I will be looking at $240 in gas and $100 for hotel and food.

Fying: So $600, no driving, about 8 hr total travel time. If I get stuck due to weather it will be at an airport.

Driving: $340, a 2 day trip each way, in the car with a 3 yr old. If I get stuck due to weather, who knows where I may be, my guess is Little Rock or somewhere near.

So folks, do I drive or fly???

Vacation

We spent last week on vacation in Tennessee. It was fabulous to get away. The trip revolved around The Call. It was a day of prayer and fasting for the nation. It started with a 2.7 mile silent prayer walk of repentance. It was amazing to be among that sea of people in silent prayer.

The rest of the week we stayed at a cabin in Southern TN. Fabulous view and a great time. I loved walking through the hills.

We spent some time at a water park and the zoo. We all had a blast.

I can breathe now right?? Well the semester is over for now. I will not be taking classes or teaching this summer. A much needed break! I still have a bunch of work to do this summer, so no fear of me not having stuff to do!

Bailey is doing well, she had a great party as you can see in the previous post! We are going to try to get the beach as often as possible this summer, she loves the sand and to play in the waves. And my goal for her this summer is that she learns to swim! She is now tall enough to touch at the low end of the pool so we are building confidence. She can walk on her tip toes around so at least she knows she can put her feet down if she freaks out. She doesn't like to be on her own in the water. She wants constant contact. So we are working on floating. She will let go of me if she feels my hands under her still but if I move them she freaks out. But hey that is progress none the less. I would just feel so much better if I knew she could swim and float will all the water around here. Hopefully it goes well.

Nothing exciting to share lately. Just the same old same old. Hope all is well back home and of course I think you should come visit us this summer!! :)

We had such a fun weekend!

Wednesday night I found out my parents were on their way down to see us! So that set in motion the frantic cleaning of the house that night and the packed day at work Thursday! And as I was picking up Bailey after work (Thank Wayne for letting me have her a day early!) I got a phone call that my parents were waiting for me at my apartment! Woohooo and they made great time! I couldn't believe they were actually here. It was so great to see them after over a month for me and Bailey hadn't seen them since Christmas!
So Thursday night I made them go to Pickle Fish for pizza. No one knew what they wanted so to the local hang out we went. They had fried pickles for the first time. Then we just relaxed and watched a movie that night. Friday morning was filled with shopping and that afternoon we went to Dauphin Island. We played at Fort Gaines and then went to the beach. The sand was wonderful and well mom and I got a bit more wet than we had wanted to. But Bailey had fun and so did we so that is what matters. From there we went on the elusive hunt for flag crocks for my nephew! Shhhh don't tell him but they don't exist! Okay maybe they do but we couldn't find them. Then off to Dreamland BBQ. Yup don't go there it isn't worth it!

Saturday started out crazy and it just stayed that way! Off to Fairhope to the Pier to do the Walk For Life. It is a fundraiser for the Family Resource Center. Then off to the store for last minute things for the party, and back to JoAnne's house to set up for Bailey's party. Well everything went off well after that. Bailey had about six kids there to celebrate with and probably twenty adults. Her Daddy and Ashley even made it over!
Sadly my parents had to leave right after the party but it was so nice to have them there! Thanks for coming, I hope you had fun!!

So we have had a busy couple of days. Saturday we went to a Egg hunt at Springhill Baptist Church down the road. Bailey got to play with animals, ride a train, hunt eggs and make bracelets. She had a good time. Then off to die some easter eggs. They are cute!

Sunday morning we arose to read the Easter Story a few times, hunt some eggs, go thru the Resurrection eggs, and decorate some cupcakes. Then off to church!
After church we headed down to Gulfport, MS to hang out with the Tingle's family. We had such a good time.

Well another month has passed. Bailey is doing well without daycare, she has gotten use to flipping back and forth between parents. January seemed to fly by, I'm not really sure where the month has gone.
My field work has finally started. So school and work has gotten a little nuts. But life is good and everything is going great.

One last post of pictures from out trip home. We had a great time having one last meal at Golden Corral with my family. I left out a lot of the really goofy pics!!

The finaly album is of our layover in the Dallas Airport. We had 3 hours to goof off so we tried to find some entertainment. Bailey loved riding on the sky tran. Other than that we played at McDonalds, on whatever she could find and the musical Labrynth thing. We actualy had fun even though we didn't have much sleep the night before. Ah the joys of going with the cheapest flight possible!!! :)

Thank you all for such a good time while we were back. Gald I could spend some time with most of you. And I am sorry that I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked. Maybe this summer we can head back up there!

Christmas tree farm here we come! Bailey's first outing to find the perfect Christmas tree.
She had so much fun running through the trees, fighting with them and hiding in them. She wasn't quite sure of the guy that was running the place. She kept hiding from him and sneaking up on him to keep an eye on him. But we found a massive tree and with a little trimming managed to get it home to my parents house.

Bailey and I decided to go play at the Bay before we headed home for Christmas. Can't argue with the nice weather we were having for December. So here are a few pics we took while out there after church. She has so much fun down there!

So we finally did it. I took Bailey with me on December 6th 2006 for her very first hair cut!! We only took about an inch of the bottom to help even it up a bit, and I think it looks fabulous. And she did so well sitting there. I think it helped that I went first and she got to watch mommy getting her haircut then when it was her turn she was excited about doing it. And Lacey is a wonderful hair stylist. We have known her for years and she recently graduated from cosmotalogy school.
